Nickie Cassidy Odom
February 26th, 1940 - March 10th, 2025
Nickie Cassidy Odom of Daniel Island, S.C. peacefully passed away on Monday, March 10th, 2025 with husband Jimmy and daughter Shana at her side. Nickie is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Orville and Avis Cassidy. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years and children: Shana Meyer (Michael), Jimmy Lane Odom Jr. (Jeanette), and Heath Odom (Kimberly) along with ten wonderful and cherished grandchildren: Gabrielle (Gabby), Jacob (Jake), Benjamin (Ben), Cade, Chase, Hanna, Jimmy (Jay) III, Jackson, Ellie (Reese) and Grant, and sister June Rotch and children (Jamison and Susannah) and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Nickie graduated from Jacksonville State University earning a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Chemistry. She began her career teaching high school math. She then took a position as a member of Wernher von Braun’s NASA team at Marshall Space Flight Center, developing the Saturn booster rockets in Huntsville, Alabama. Nickie enjoyed this job so much that she often commented she would have worked without pay. She then followed her true creative passions when she and Jimmy founded and managed an interior design company (Associated Interiors) for 17 years. Her love of needlepoint steered her and her business partner to design, publish, and market needlework books (Cross Eyed Cricket) worldwide. This allowed extensive travel all over the world which created numerous memories of joy and adventure!
She will be fondly remembered for her love and devotion for God, family, friends, animals and Diet Dr. Pepper! We would like to take this opportunity to thank her long time caretaker and friend, Jennie Humphreys, who has become family, as well as various other loving caretakers.
Memorial service will be held in the chapel at Seacoast Church Mt. Pleasant on Thursday, April 3rd, 2025 @ 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to East Cooper Meals on Wheels Mount Pleasant where Nickie volunteered weekly.
