John (Jack) Petschl passed away peacefully after suffering a heart attack in his favorite place, Las Vegas, on March 2, 2025, at the age of 82.
Jack was born on Nov. 30, 1942, in St. Paul, Minnesota to John and Celeste Petschl. He attended Harding High School and graduated in 1960. He was a proud member of the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local Union 1 since 1961. He spent over 35 years as a bricklayer at “the Mining” (aka 3M); retiring in 2002.
In 1982, he met the love of his life, Nancy (nee Teske), and they shared a deep love for each other for over 42 years. Nancy was his best friend and favorite poker partner. They shared a love of traveling to Las Vegas, playing Texas Hold-em, and spending time at the cabin together.
Throughout his life, Jack was known for always helping anyone who needed it, giving everyone the benefit of the doubt, and loving those close to him.
Jack is survived by his soulmate and wife, Nancy; six children; Lori (Roger) Shimon, David (Tammy) Petschl, Lanette Petschl, Jodi Case, Lance Petschl and Todd Petschl; seven grandchildren Brandon Petschl, Travis Petschl, Zachary Schwanke, Abbey and Tyler Shimon, Eliana and Cullen Case, and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Jack has joined in heaven his parents, John and Celeste Petschl, and his daughter, Juli Ann.
Jack will forever be missed, but will be remembered for his kindness, his amazing relationship with Nancy, and his love of poker. He will remain in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to have known him. Rest in peace, Dad, you will live on through all of us.
