Charles "Charlie" H. Schulz
November 4th, 1937 - March 4th, 2025
Charles H. Schulz ("Charlie") 87 of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away suddenly on March 4, 2025.
A beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He was born in Alton, Illinois in 1937 and grew up in Alton and later in Toledo, Ohio. Charlie attended Toledo Central Catholic High School and the University of Dayton, where he graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration in 1959. It was while attending the University of Dayton that Charlie met his future wife Barbara Schulz (McKale) of Piqua, Ohio. They were married in June, 1959. He dearly loved her and they spent more than 65 happy years together.
Charlie was a great patriot and served his country as an officer in the United States Army, achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant. After leaving the service, he spent his entire career in the corrugated packaging industry working for Alton Box Board and its successors, retiring in 2000. During their life together Charlie and Barbara lived in numerous states, but finally settled in Lexington, Kentucky.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Charlotte and his brother Jim and is survived by Barbara, his wife and by his sons, David, Daniel and Steven. He is also survived by five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, including those from the McKale family with whom he was very close.
Charlie was a wonderful man who never met a friend he couldn't make. He had a great love of sailing and was an avid reader of the history of his country. He was also an early member of the Bass Anglers Sportmans Society and very much enjoyed fishing. While he enjoyed these hobbies, what mattered most to him was his family, who love him dearly and will miss him terribly.
Charlie was a devout Catholic and an original member of the Pax Christi Catholic Church in Lexington. He carried a medallion on his key chain that was a gift from his son David and read the words found on it every day: For whosoever shall call upon the Lord Jesus shall be saved. Romans 10:13.
A memorial service will be held at Pax Christi Catholic Church, 4001 Victoria Way, in Lexington, Kentucky on June 7, 2025. Visitation will be at the church beginning at 9:00am with a funeral mass to follow. Mass will begin at 11:00am. The mass will be followed by inurnment at the Pax Christi Columbarium and a reception at the church. All present are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Charlie's name to Catholic Charities Diocese of Lexington.
