Federico Carrillo Rodriguez

Federico (Fred) Carrillo Rodriguez, 86, of Bullhead City, Arizona passed away on February 2nd, 2025.  Fred was born on March 2nd, 1938 to Maria Rodriguez Carrillo and Cesario Aguilar Carrillo in Chihuahua, Mexico.  He spent his younger years in Mexico and moved to the United States with his family when he was seven years old.

Fred enjoyed growing up in Los Angeles, California.  He went to Belvedere Junior High School and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Boyle Heights.  He was very athletic and participated in track, baseball, basketball and football.  Fred was given a nickname at school that he grew fond of and today some of his friends will still call him “Stonewall Jackson.”

Fred worked for Thunderbird Freight Lines driving for 25 years. He was awarded a medal when he retired for his dedication and perfect driving record.  He continued to work for a variety of trucking companies such as Delta Freight Lines, Red Ball Freight Lines, and Transit Mixed Concrete. Then he decided it was time to take a break from driving and moved to Las Vegas and worked at Bally’s Hotel & Casino.  Twenty years later, he moved to a 55+ community in Fort Mohave, Arizona and enjoyed the rest of his retirement.

Fred had many interests and hobbies which brought much joy to his life. 

He was a sports fan and followed all sports very closely.  He especially loved boxing, baseball and football.  He shared his boxing skills with his sons and other children in the community helping them with their confidence and self-defense skills.  He enjoyed attending boxing matches on the weekends traveling to other states supporting who he trained. It gave him great pleasure to see his sons and the children excel in their own way.

Fred loved to work out at the gym.  He was a fitness fanatic and visited the gym at least 5 times a week. He was determined to keep healthy.

He loved the challenge of completing puzzles and found it relaxing and fun playing cards with his family and friends.

Fred had an appreciation for music and a passion for dancing. Dancing became his favorite thing! He was a part of the dancing community and enjoyed and loved the friendships he made.

He enjoyed watching Western movies and TV shows and was very knowledgeable of the actors names and their life stories.

Fred spoke two languages (English and Spanish) and studied and learned all the answers to the 100 questions for the U.S. immigration test.  Although he loved living in the United States, he had fond memories of his early years growing up in Mexico.

Fred is survived by his companion, Patricia Eli; his three sons, Frederick Carrillo Jr., Christopher Carrillo (Angela), and Lawrence Carrillo (Lisa); his two daughters, Sandra Torres, and Loretta Vargas; his fourteen grandchildren; and twenty-two great grandchildren.

He is also survived by his five brothers, Carlos Carrillo (Yolanda), Louie Carrillo (Kathy), Richard Carrillo, David Carrillo (Liz), and Hector Carrillo (Kathy); two sisters, Amelia Guerrero, and Rosie Carrillo (Mike); his first wife and mother of his children, Alice Carrillo; and many nephews and nieces.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Cesario Aguilar Carrillo and Maria Rodriguez Carrillo; his two sons, Eddie Carrillo, and Richard Carrillo; his three sisters, Lupe Gonzales, Rita Fierros, and Mary (Nena) Avilla; brother-in-law’s, Tony Gonzales, Rudy Fierros, Enrique Avilla, and Ray Martinez; and sister-in-law, Janie Carrillo.

A private Celebration of Life for Fred will be held in Bullhead City, Arizona at a later date.
