Betz, Rossi Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home - Amsterdam
Gloria L. Raucci
May 1st, 1933 - March 15th, 2025
Gloria (Przybylo) Raucci of Amsterdam NY. Gloria Raucci died on March 15, 2025, after a long illness.
Gloria was born in Amsterdam, NY on May 1, 1933. She graduated from Amsterdam High School in 1950 and remained a lifelong resident of Amsterdam, NY. She was married to the late James J Raucci.
Survivors include her sons James (Deborah) Raucci of Colonie, NY and John (Valerie) Raucci of Englewood, FL and her grandson, Christopher Raucci Amsterdam, NY, several nieces and nephews, and close neighbors and friends.
In addition to her parents, John and Grace (Carter) Przybylo, she was predeceased by her husband of almost 68 years, James J Raucci, by her siblings and their spouses, John (Maureen) Przybylo, and Patricia (Enrico “Zip”) Zepperi, her brother-in-law Marshall [Grace (Mele)] Raucci Sr, and very dear friends, Mary and Edward Ilnicki.
Gloria was a kind, caring, and gracious person. She was an outstanding mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, homemaker, cook, and who hosted countless family events.
She was employed at General Electric in Schenectady, before having children. She held several part-time jobs while her children were young. After her children were grown, she was a garment worker at Mohawk Sportswear.
She was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church (formerly Second Presbyterian Church); serving in many positions, a member of Mary Martha Circle, and contributing her cooking talents as needed. Her faith and reliance on God were exampled throughout her life as she served others daily with grace and humility.
She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for the boys when they were young. She loved to keep neighborhood children occupied during the summer and school vacations. Visitors would never leave her home hungry. She was an election worker at the former Fifth Ward School and then Barkley School. Gloria enjoyed playing in the South Side Bocce League. She loved having family gatherings, especially for Palm Sunday and Christmas Eve. She traveled yearly to Hampton Beach NH when the boys were young and to Fort Meyers Beach FL, after retiring, with beloved friends, Mary and Edward Ilnicki.
The family thanks the dedicated staff at Hillcrest Springs Assisted Living (Amsterdam, NY), Wilkinson Nursing Home (Amsterdam, NY), and The Community Hospice, Inc for the wonderful care provided to Gloria over the last few years.
The immediate family would like to thank Dave Zepperi, David Zepperi, and Rebecca Chrisman for their support over the years. The family appreciates all of the family and friends that visited her.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 10am until 12noon, where a memorial service will follow at 12noon at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam. The family will memorialize her life with that of her predeceased husband, James.
