Neal Howard VanMeter passed away peacefully, on March 13, 2025, in Caldwell, Idaho, at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lois Eileen Taylor VanMeter, who passed in July 2015. They were married on October 20, 1952, and together they raised five children: Christine, Barry, Neal, Sydney, and Randy.

Neal spent much of his career working in the lumber industry, as a warehouse foreman, a job he truly enjoyed because of his love for working with people. He spent his childhood in Oregon before settling in Boise, where he and Lois raised their family. In the mid-1970s, they moved to Denver Colorado. They moved to Florida for a few years before returning to Denver. In 2000, Neal and Eileen moved back to Idaho, settling in Caldwell to be closer to family.

Neal had a deep love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed camping in Cascade. One of his favorite pastimes was riding a four-wheeler in the mountains with his sons, grandsons, and his beloved Shih Tzu, Isabelle. He had a special place in his heart for dogs and always found joy in their companionship.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, wife Eileen, daughter Christine, sons Sydney and Neal, and granddaughter Angie.

Neal is survived by his sons Randy (Stephanie) of Caldwell and Barry (Lynn) of Illinois, along with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Services will be held on Tuesday March 18th at Flahiff Funeral Home in Caldwell.  Neal will be buried in the Wilder cemetery. Monetary contributions will go toward the purchase of the headstone.
