MaeBeth Johnson, age 86 yrs, 4 mos., 11 days passed away in her home March 11, 2025, surrounded by her husband and family.
MaeBeth was one of 16 siblings. The family came to California in 1948 on a flatbed truck, first working as field laborers from the same Bakersfield migrant worker camp that inspired “The Grapes of Wrath.”
She remembered picking cotton with her family. They settled in Sonoma, CA. MaeBeth became known for her sweetness, kindness, and being a good wife, mother, grand and great-grandmother.
MaeBeth is survived by her husband of 32 years, Martin Solomon Johnson, Jr.; sons, Cass and Robbie Davis; daughter, Jennifer (Mark) Patrick; brother, David Stovall; sisters, Donna Fowler, Gail Stovall, Kay Jensen; grandchildren; Brittany (David) Klingsheim, Caleb (Alyssa Johnston) Patrick, Kim Harge, Whitney Davis, Courtney Davis, Jordin Davis Martin (Samara) Johnson IV; great grandchildren, Noah, Beth, Delilah Jean, Leighton, Landon, Tyson, Berkley, Aubrey and Shanti. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Wanda Davis; stepson, Martin Johnson III; grandchildren, Kristina Harge, James and Seth Davis; brothers, Robert, Lawrence, Everett, James, Ken, John Wayne and Orville Stovall; sisters, Charlene, Billye, Patsy, and Della Stovall.
Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside service on Monday, March 24, 2025, 1:00PM, Ione Public Cemetery, 500 S. Church St. Ione, CA. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, May 11, 2025, 1:00PM at the Ione Memorial Hall, 207 S Amador St, Ione, CA, formerly the VFW Hall in Ione, CA.
