Margaret “Peggy” (Seaton) Pope (86), of Lapeer, MI, passed away on January 5, 2025, in The Villages, FL.
Peggy was born in Lapeer to Almeron and Esther Seaton on September 19, 1938. She attended Lapeer High School and graduated from Michigan State University with a teaching degree. She returned to Lapeer where she married her high school sweetheart, Owen Pope, and settled there to raise their family. She worked as a speech therapist and teacher for the Lapeer County Schools for over 20 years before retiring to Florida. She enjoyed fishing, dancing, golfing, and spending time with her friends and family.
Peggy is preceded in death by her loving husband, and parents.
Peggy is survived by her children: Julie Pope, Todd (Beth) Pope; grandchildren: Megan (Carl) Suedhoff, Kelley Pope, and Spencer (Jennifer) Pope; and great-grandchildren: Evan, Carolyn, Kenlee, and Penelope.
In keeping with Peggy’s wishes she will be laid to rest at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Lapeer. A celebration of life will be held at the Lapeer Country Club on May 4, 2025, at 11:00am.
Memorials may be given to the Children’s Section of the Lapeer District Public Library.
