John Henry "Jack" Wittmann, 83 passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2025, at his home in Lanham, MD. He was the husband of 57 years of Jo Ann Brombaugh Wittmann. On March 26, 1941, he was born in Philadelphia to Helen Bell Wittmann and Albert Heinrich Wittmann and graduated from Roxborough High School in 1959. In 1963 he graduated from Penn State with a BS in Cartography. He continued his education at The Ohio State University where he obtained his Masters and his Missus. Following graduation in 1965, he began his career at the US Geological Survey working on the National Atlas. Following retirement from Federal Service, he worked part-time for various contractors at the Survey for about 10 years.

Jack married Jo Ann in 1967, and they traveled across the country by car many times. They took their first cruise for their 10th anniversary and were to drive to Florida for their 88th cruise the day he passed away.

Jack served as President of the Washington, DC, area chapters of both the Penn State and Ohio State Alumni Associations. He had served as Entertainment Chairman of the Laurel Senior Friendship Club. At the time of his death, he was President of the USGS Mapping Retirees and was the Financial Officer for the Cipriano Woods Homeowners Association.

In addition to his wife Jo Ann, Jack is survived by nephews Eric Brombaugh (Jill Kuester), Daniel Brombaugh (Rachel); niece Adrienne Wiebusch (Paul); great-niece Molly Brombaugh; and great-nephew Johann Wiebusch.
