Robert J. Rouse

Robert J. Rouse, of Tucson, Arizona, died Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the age of 89 years.

Robert, known as Bob to everyone, was born in Alda, Nebraska. He graduated from high school at the age of 17 and a few months later joined the U.S. Navy. While still serving, he married Naomi and they remained together for the rest of his life. After his release to inactive duty, he studied at the University of Nebraska where he graduated with an electrical engineering degree. He then joined IBM where he worked (in various places around the country) until his early retirement. After a successful career with IBM, he became a hiking guide for a health resort in Tucson. As someone who enjoyed the outdoors, this was a wonderful way to conclude his working life. He then entered a comfortable second retirement.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Naomi, and three sons: Robert Jr., Rex, and Ty. He was sadly preceded in death by his youngest son, Chad. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. As children he playfully, and often boisterously, enjoyed their company. The presence of family was always something he enjoyed.

A memorial service will be held at Fountain of Life Lutheran Church on March 25, 2025, at 10:30AM, with a brief viewing period before the service. This will be immediately followed by a committal at All Faiths Memorial Park cemetery. There will then be a luncheon reception back at Fountain of Life served by the ladies of the church.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Fountain of Life Lutheran Church is suggested.

Bob was a man of simple Christian faith. He will be remembered for his quirky sense of humor. He made friends easily wherever he went.
