Yuka Harigaya Egan

With heavy hearts, we mourn the sudden passing of Yuka Harigaya Egan, 62, of Chico, on March 1st, 2025. Yuka was a beautiful human being who deeply impacted everyone who knew her. She was well loved in the Chico Community, words fail to encompass who Yuka was and the way she touched the lives of the people around her. With her innate ability to nurture without condition, she would enrich the lives of people around her through her delicious food, kindness and her unique, always thoughtful gifts. Her selfless attention to detail and her gentle presence was felt by all who knew her. She was elegant, authentic, gracious, and she loved her children more than anything. Yuka was a highly accomplished and driven entrepreneur. She achieved her dreams of opening her family restaurant, Japanese Blossoms, in 2007, which was her pride and joy and a direct extension of who she was as a person. It thrived here in Chico and has brought so many of us together. Born in Japan, she traveled to the United States and cultivated a life for herself through hard work and a devotion to her passions. She is survived by her two beloved sons, Chris Caspary and James Caspary, Her husband, Philip Egan, and her two stepchildren, James Egan and Chloe Egan, her mother, Aiko Harigaya and her brother Yasunori Harigaya. You will be forever in our hearts and memories Yuka, your presence and impact on all our lives will be deeply and irreplaceably missed. We love you.
