Reginald St. Julian Lassiter, fondly known as “Reggie” was born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania on July 15, 1944, to the late Leslie St. Julian Lassiter and Mary Johnson. Reggie was educated in the Philadelphia public school system.  While attending West Philadelphia High School he was an avid member of the choir where his love of singing and music began. In 1962, upon graduation, he enlisted in the US Army and was given an honorable discharge as Sergeant.

His first union was on May 21, 1966, to Barbara Hunter and from that union two daughters were born, Traci Michele and Telene Nicole. They resided in Lawnside, New Jersey and later moved to Voorhees, New Jersey.

Reggie’s first job was at Central Penn National Bank in Philadelphia as a project manager. His love for computers led him to enroll in the IBM School where he studied computer science and thereafter began his new career at Rohn and Haas. To elevate his career, Reggie attended Rutgers University in Camden where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He went on to gain employment with Sunoco, Pierce Junior College as a professor and retired from Exelon (PECO). After retirement he was a substitute teacher at Camden County Technical School.

Reggie’s second union with his wife Mary Murphy was in October 1995. From that union a daughter was born, Tiffany Ren’e. They reside in Sicklerville, New Jersey.

Reggie continued his love for music his entire life. He has a large collection of albums, tapes, and CD’s. As a pastime, he would faithfully listen to the oldies every Sunday and even recorded songs. He was a huge Philadelphia sports fan and attended many Sixers games with his daughters. He also took great pride in his landscaping! His lawn was always the greenest in the neighborhood and was fondly called the “Lawn King” by neighbors.

Reggie peacefully departed this life on March 3, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents; Leslie St. Julian Lassiter and Mary Johnson. Siblings, Randolph Lassiter (wife Patricia), McCoy Lassiter and Arlecy Juanita Lassiter. Reggie leaves behind his wife, Mary Lassiter, three daughters; Traci Lassiter, Telene Shipley (William), Tiffany Lassiter. Six grandchildren, Ryane Spell, William Shipley V, Aaron Spell, Karla Lassiter, Skye Shipley and Kylie Lassiter; four sisters, Mary Anne Wright, Gwendolyn Wright, Shirley Wright-Kamara, Carol King and a host of family and friends.
