Two months shy of his 87th birthday, Victor peacefully made his transition to eternal life on March 8, 2025, in Arvada, CO, surrounded by his loving family and the heart-broken caregivers of Nightingale Suites. Victor was born in Center, CO, on May 8, 1938 to Gregorita M. (Aragon) Quintana and Victor D. Quintana. The family moved to Leadville, CO when he was a young boy. Victor played basketball in his youth, graduating from Lake County High School in 1957. Mr. Quintana married Renida (Fernandez) in August of 1958. In the same year, he started his career with USPS ( United States Postal Service).

In 1961 he was drafted into the Army shortly before their first daughter, Dolly, was born. He completed a two year deployment in Korea, was honorably discharged, and returned home to meet his one-and-half year old. Soon, the couple welcomed another daughter, Vicky.

Victor and Renida divorced in 1972. Victor moved into his childhood home with his mother, Gregorita, who passed in 2010. Their combined home created a special environment welcoming family and friends. Victor retired from the USPS in 1992. However, he remained active in the Leadville community, performing odd jobs and services for the local residents, including roofing , fencing, and various household repairs.

Typically, Victor wintered at the home of his daughter, Dolly, and son-in-law, Steve, in Arvada, after suffering a serious fall from a roof in Leadville in 1998 that lead to surgery for a prosthetic shoulder. The milder winters were easier on his overall health.

In 2014, he moved to Arvada. He lived there until his death, except for a brief period when he lived in New Mexico with his daughter Vicky and her husband Tim Dale. He was cared for in assisted living at Nightingale Suites for the past 2 1/2 years.

Victor enjoyed traveling the world, visiting Mexico and Canada with his wife in the 1960’s. A devout Catholic, he made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem with his mother and other members of his beloved Annunciation church.

He enjoyed Yellowstone with his daughters and niece, drove across the country with his girls and his mother, visited his nephew stationed in Italy and continued on to Spain with his daughters. He also ventured to Florida with his daughter, Vicky, his then son-in- law, Mike Romero, and grandchildren. Later, he enjoyed other big trips with extended family to the east coast and Hawaii. In addition, he went on a Hawaiian cruise with several family members for his daughter Dolly’s wedding. During the cruise, he was stricken with kidney stones, which he kept secret from others, suffering in relative silence for the duration of the cruise. He toured Europe and China with his daughter’s family. He loved to drive and enjoyed countless road trips. Glenwood Hot Springs was one of his favorite destinations.

As much as anything, he loved nature: being outdoors was his favorite pastime, hunting with his nephews, camping, and teaching his grandchildren to fish. He existed outdoors, at play, at work, walking wherever, whenever possible. His nature could be described as playful, always teasing, flirting and having fun.

Generous was his middle name, giving his time, treasure, and talent to many worthy causes. He was always there to help others in need. Whether it was something small like helping someone cross the street, or providing financial assistance to friends and family, or something even bigger like building houses and a church in Mexico, Victor offered his support.

Finally, Victor trusted in the Lord with all his heart. He performed Eucharistic ministerial duties at Annunciation Church. He walked by faith, not by sight, and his works expressed his faith vividly in his everyday life.

He was preceded in death by his parents Victor D Quintana & Gregorita M (Aragon) Quintana, his infant son Ronny, sisters Frances Quintana, Esther Madrid, Betty Martinez, and son-in-law, Tim Dale. He is survived by two sisters, Emma Pacheco and Maryann Martinez, his daughters, Dolly Tracy( Steve McLinden) and Vicky Dale, grandchildren Ronny Tracy( Brianna), Darian McLinden, Tessa McLinden (Hannah), Reina McLinden, Jeanette Lucero, Michael Romero (Brittany), great-grandchildren, Lily, Terenn, Adam, Izabella, Alexis, Dominick, and his namesake Quinton, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many godchildren.
