Judith McElhanon Atwood

March 16, 1949 to March 15, 2025

Judy was born in Boise's North End near Camels Back Park to Clifford and Leona McElhanon. The family later moved to the Boise Bench off Garden Street. Judy attended West Junior High and graduated Borah High School in 1967. After graduation Judy attended and graduated Links School of Business. She worked for Signs, Incorporated in Boise as a secretary and bookkeeper. One of her “claims to fame” was that all through high school and early marriage she made the clothes for the “Washer Woman” sing on Vista Ave. Hoody, as many of her friends called her, met Tom Atwood on a blind date in early 1967. They would marry May 6, 1968. They were married just short of 57 years. Hoody remained at the Signs, Incorporated until Tom graduated from trade school, found work, and their first child, Sarah, was born, at that time, she became a full-time wife, friend, mother, and homemaker. To this union came four children Sarah, Zeb, Elisha, and Cassie. Judy was a victim of Huntington's Disease which has confined her pretty much to home for the last several years. Hoody died with her husband by her side one day before her 76th birthday. She was preceded in her death by her daughter, Sarah; parents, and two brothers: Ron Adams and Cliff McElhanon. Judy is survived by her husband, Tom; son, Zeb, daughters: Elisha and Cassie; and seven grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

We Entrusted Judith Atwood's Care To

Accent Funeral Home

A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
