"The measure of a life well-lived is not in years, but in the love we give, the kindness we show, and the legacy of goodness we leave behind.”
 — In loving tribute from his family

With profound sadness and deep gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Carlos Julio Robles, who departed this world peacefully at home on March 19, 2025, at the age of 96. He leaves behind a legacy of love, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to family and faith.

Born in Colombia, Carlos was a man of quiet strength and deep resolve. He bravely emigrated to the United States in pursuit of a better future for his family — a future he built with patience, hard work, and heart. His professional career spanned decades in the airline industry, where he served with distinction as a chief accountant and senior tariff specialist for Avianca, PanAm, and Delta Airlines. He was admired for his brilliance, integrity, and dedication.

Yet beyond his professional accomplishments, it was Carlos’s life of service, kindness, and steadfast love that defined him most. A devoted member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Englewood, Florida, he served faithfully as a Eucharistic Minister and Usher. Carlos was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, living his faith through generosity and humility.

He is survived by his beloved wife Maria Lylia Robles (née Bustos), with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring love story of 70 years. Together, they raised three sons.

Carlos leaves behind seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, each one a testament to his enduring love, wisdom, and guidance.

Those who knew Carlos knew a man who was patient yet strong, humble yet principled, firm yet infinitely loving. He was a true gentleman — a dapper dresser with a warm smile, a devoted soccer fan who cheered passionately, and a man who loved gathering around a good meal with family. His devotion to his wife remained constant and tender until his final days.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in his honor on April 5th at 12 noon at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Englewood, Florida. A private Celebration of Life will follow in Sarasota.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Carlos’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause that reflects his heart for giving and his desire to help children thrive. Donate here: http://bit.ly/4iQKzGe

His was a life defined by purpose, love, and selfless devotion — a legacy that will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
