JoAnn M. (Huber) Chartier, 87, of Holyoke passed away March 21, 2025, at Holyoke Medical Center. She was the wife of Roland F. Chartier who passed away in 2013. She was born on October 2, 1937, in Cincinnati, OH, daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Geier) Huber and lived in South Hadley and Chicopee for a combined 50 years before moving to Holyoke in 2013. She graduated from Our Lady of the Angels High School in Ohio. JoAnn was a clerk secretary for the Department of the Navy, the U.S. Army Department of the Pentagon, the U.S. Air Force in Westover, and Lester Halpern & Co. in Holyoke. She always joked that she served each branch of the service without ever enlisting. 

JoAnn and her husband were 60 year members of the Pioneer Valley Chapter 8 of the North American Family Campers Association. She was also a longtime member of St. Theresa's Church in South Hadley. JoAnn always kept her mind sharp with crossword puzzles, reading, and jigsaw puzzles. She was an avid Red Sox's fan and collected angels.  She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and made memories with them that they will cherish for a lifetime. 

She will be deeply missed by her children, Cynthia Recoulle and husband Robert of Holyoke, Michael Chartier of Springfield, Robert Chartier and wife Heather of Springfield, and James Chartier and wife Michele of Chicopee; A brother, William Huber of Florida; grandchildren, Nathan Recoulle, Kyrstin and Elizabeth Chartier, and Alec Rodrigue and great granddaughter Ellington. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025, from 4-7 PM at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 1st at 10:00 AM at St. Theresa's Church in South Hadley.  Please meet directly at the church. Burial will be private at the Mass. Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam where she will be laid to rest beside her husband. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Square One of Springfield, American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
