Jerry Leroy Mooney peacefully passed away on March 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at his home.

Born in South Dakota in 1943, Jerry moved to Kimberley, Idaho, with his parents, Clarence and Ethel Mooney, when he was just six months old. At age six, the family settled in Boise, Idaho, where Jerry spent much of his life. He graduated from Borah High School and carried his strong work ethic into his career and life.

Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Army, where he developed lasting bonds and carried forward the values of dedication and service that shaped his life.

On March 28, 1969, Jerry married the love of his life, Joan Lavell Aultz. Together, they shared 56 wonderful years, filled with love, adventure, and cherished memories. Their shared passion for the Idaho outdoors and sense of adventure led them on countless journeys—motorcycle rides across the country and into Canada, camping trips, fishing, hunting, ATVing, snowmobiling and so much more. Jerry also loved playing golf with his son Jerry Jr and friends, embracing every opportunity to enjoy the game he cherished.

Jerry worked as a crew chief at Ada County Highway District for 30 years, earning the respect of colleagues and contributing to the growth and maintenance of the community he called home.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Joan, his son, Jerry Mooney Jr., and his daughters Petra Cook and Joan Marie Flores.

Jerry will always be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his love for the Idaho outdoors, and the legacy of love and joy he leaves behind for his family and friends.

Accent Funeral Home

A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
