Lee Harold Lemmon
October 23rd, 1937 - March 5th, 2025
Lee Harold Lemmon passed away peacefully March 5th after a brief illness in Springfield Oregon. The Family would like to thank the incredible caregivers at McKenzie Willamette hospital for caring for him for the last several days that he was with us.
Lee was born October 29th 1937 in Portland Oregon to Claude and Maxine Lemmon with his three siblings, brothers Mel and Jim and sister Norma.
Lee graduated from Springfield High School where he won district in Cross Country. He also attended Lane community college and the University of Oregon where he studied landscape design. He worked at Alexander’s Department store in Springfield and was in the Army in 1961-1963. He was a liquid Nitrogen and Oxygen specialist stationed in Germany.
He worked for Weyerhaeuser as a fire warden and then worked as a professional firefighter and EMT for the Eugene Fire Department until he retired in the early 90’s. Have loved being outdoors and also had a landscaping business which continued until he finally retire from that as well.
Lee also volunteered at the Mt Pisgah arboretum and taught hunters education to hundreds of kids.
Lee had 5 of his own children and many foster and adopted children including Lori, Carl, Ken, James, Rusty, Chris, Darrell, Duane, Kathy and as I have heard from many others that also considered him and as a father and father figure to many. Lee married Sandra Lemmon (Marsonette) in 1966 and was thankful for the son’s and their family. He was also a grand father and great grandfather.
Lee was proceeded by his parents Claude and Maxine Lemmon and bothers Mel and sister Norma.
Sorry for the short notice, the family would like to invite you to Lee’s celebration of life on March 28th in Springfield Oregon. There will be a viewing from 9:30 am to 11 am followed by an Entombment at Springfield Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home . A Memorial Service will be held at the LDS Church 66th Street Chapel in Springfield at 1pm.
