James N. Gehrke
October 8th, 1944 - March 23rd, 2025
James N. Gehrke, 80, of Wimauma, FL peacefully passed away at home on March 23, 2025. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Hildur (Peggy) and Otto Gehrke. James served in the United States Army in combat infantry during the Vietnam War. He retired from White Cap after 38 years working as a Machinist.
James loved to make people laugh with a funny comment or joke, he enjoyed 50’s and 60’s music and knew all the songs and artist - was the go-to person for trivia. James and Susan loved to cruise, go fishing and have little adventures. His favorite drink was vodka on the rocks.
James was very loving and caring to his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his brother Jerry Gehrke. He is survived by Susan, his wife of over 40 years, daughter Melissa Dunczyk (Steven), sister Virginia “Ginger” Jonas, grandchildren; Deanna, Steven, James, great grandson Juliyan, extended family and numerous friends.
A Memorial Service will begin 11am, Thursday, April 24, 2025 at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church, 1015 E Del Webb Blvd, Sun City Center, FL 33573. His final place of rest will be Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241 where he will receive military honors 12:30 pm on Friday, April 25, 2025.
