With profound sadness, we share the passing of Richard Allen Kelley, known to those who loved him as Rick. On February 6, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer, he took his final journey at home in Loveland, Colorado, surrounded by his wife and children. He was 68.

Born on June 20, 1956, in St. Paul, Minnesota, Rick was the second of six siblings. From an early age, he was a dreamer, a storyteller and an artist with an adventurous spirit. His faith in God was unshakable, and his laughter was contagious. He had a way of making life feel lighter, even in its heaviest moments.

Rick and Shawn married on January 2, 1992, together they built a life filled with love, laughter and three incredible children, Evan, Adam and Morgan. He was a devoted father, always present, always turning everyday moments into cherished memories. Whether coaching baseball, fishing at sunrise, or making his family laugh with his quick wit, his love was unwavering.

Rick’s passion for art took root early and became his life’s work. Inspired by the beauty of nature, he dedicated his career to capturing wildlife, faith, and patriotism on canvas. But his art was more than paint and brushstrokes, it was a reflection of his soul. He generously donated pieces to conservation efforts, and after 9/11, he created his “On Freedom’s Wing” series, offering solace through his work.

Rick embraced life fully. Whether skiing in Montana, fishing under the Florida sun, or striking up conversations with strangers who quickly became friends, he found joy in every moment. Florida brought him sunshine, year-round fishing, and a substantial collection of Salt Life T-shirts, small reminders of the life he loved.

Above all, Rick was kind, cheerful and strong-willed. His faith was his foundation, and his love knew no bounds. He leaves behind his wife, Shawn; children, Evan (Ashley), Adam and Morgan; siblings, Jean (Gary) Pacolt, Barb (Al) McNamee, Bob (Danielle) and Tom (Kimberly); along with countless friends. He is reunited in Heaven with his parents, Ed and Pat Kelley, his brother Don, sister-in-law Robin, and nephew Nathan.

A memorial service will be held on May 24, 2025 to celebrate Rick’s incredible life. Though his time here was too short, his love and laughter will echo forever in the hearts he touched. A luncheon will be held following the service.
