Marlys Mae Schaumburg

 

Marlys Mae (Bussler) Schaumburg was born on December 9, 1932, in Winthrop, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Edward and Leona (Mahnke) Bussler. She died at the age of 93 on March 24, 2025 at Ecumen Lakeview Commons in Maplewood, MN. 

 

Marlys is preceded in death by loving husband of 56 years Sidney, parents, Edward and Leona Bussler; sister, Ruby Erickson; brother, Lowell Bussler. She is survived by sister-in-law, Lorraine Schaumburg, and many nieces & nephews. 

  

Marlys grew up in Winthrop, MN, graduating from High School in 1949.  After graduation she had office jobs and worked at the creamery in Winthrop. She attended cosmetology school and, after moving to North St. Paul, worked at the Pin Up Salon in North St. Paul.

 

Sid and Marlys opened one of the first Dairy Queen Brazier stores in Minnesota. It was located in LeSueur, MN. Following that, they both worked for Control Data in Roseville, MN until retirement.

 

She will be deeply missed and remembered by all who loved her. Thank you to Ecumen Lakeview Commons and Ecumen Hospice for their wonderful care of Marlys.

 

Service will be on April 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour before at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, North St. Paul, MN. Memorials to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, North St. Paul, MN or Ecumen Hospice.
