Margaret (Peggy) J. Madeira, 89, of Canby, Oregon, passed away on Thursday morning, March 13, 2025, at Country Side Living in Canby. 

 

Margaret was born May 20, 1935, in Modesto, California, to William and Josephine (Gisler) Millerick. She was the oldest of six children. On June 29, 1957, she married Frank R. Madeira in Virginia City, Nevada. 

 

Margaret was a wife, mother, and homemaker for most of her life. After her husband, Frank, of 28 years, passed away in 1986, she worked for 15 years for Fr. Robert Cieslinski and Fr. Tom Yurchak at St. Patrick's in Canby until her retirement. Upon retirement, Margaret enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, caring for her mother, and tending to her garden. Margaret is survived by her son, Matthew Madeira (Donna); daughter, Frances Madeira Parker; daughter, Lorraine Daly (Mike); daughter, Christine Purdy (Brian); sister, Donna Blanas; and brother, Carl Millerick. She leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. 

 

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her daughter, Teresa Madeira Hurliman; her brothers, Robert and William Millerick; and her sister, Joann Chiechi. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 498 NW 9th Avenue, Canby, Oregon, on Friday, April 4, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon. The rosary will precede the Mass at 10:30 a.m.
