Margaret Jeanne Ostrum

12.3.1943 – 3.24.2025

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Margaret (Peg) Jeanne Ostrum on March 24, 2025. After a long illness, she passed away peacefully at home with her loving husband, Jim, by her side.

Peg, as she was known by those who loved her, was born December 3, 1943 in St. Paul, MN. She grew up in St. Paul and graduated from Johnson High School. She married James (Jim) Ostrum Feb 12, 1966.

Peg will be remembered for her deep love of family and friends, for always opening her home to others, her Christmas Eve parties and cake baking. She loved reading, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren, evening games at the kitchen table, and watching the wildlife at their peaceful lake home. She was a grand matriarch and a force to be reckoned with.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Elaine Gerard, her sister Denise Burns, brothers John and Dick Burns and her beloved grandson Eric Eide.

She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, James (Jim) Ostrum, daughters Jenean Starwalt (Steve Hartmann), Michele Vorwerk (Dave), son Michael (Kim) Ostrum, grandchildren Lauren (Mike) Silberman, Elizabeth Eide, Nicole (John) Feist, Abigail Ostrum, Alexandra Ostrum, Joshua Ostrum, and great-grandchildren Mason Starwalt and Olive Feist. She is also survived by her sister Lynne Dvoracek, brothers Tom Gerard, Joe Gerard and Gerald Gerard, nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 2 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Sandberg Funeral Home, 2593 East 7th Avenue, North St. Paul. Interment at Fort Snelling at 1:45 PM. There will be a luncheon at the North St. Paul VFW following the interment, at 3:00 pm.

Peg had a heart full of love and will be deeply missed by those who were fortunate to know her.
