The Springs Funeral Services - Platte
Patsy Clara Denton
March 13th, 1930 - March 24th, 2025
Spunky Miss Pat was born the youngest of three children to rancher JB and his wife Clara Kimble in Clayton, New Mexico. She proudly sported the New Mexico cattle ranching heritage all of her 95 years and 11 days. She fondly spoke of riding her pony “Shorty”, braiding the hair of her grandpa “Pops” Sprinkle and she loved to reminisce about life on the ranch in the 1930s. Train rides to the National Western Stock Show in Denever remained a favorite memory. She told stories about ‘borrowing’ a car in high school while trying to learn to smoke cigarettes….avowing that the fun she had was worth the consequence.
Always an optimist, Pat held a glass-half-full attitude for whatever life presented. The important principles in her life were don’t go to bed angry, do unto others and find a solution. Oh, and enjoy games, lots of games.
An avid Oklahoma Sooners fan, she enjoyed watching all things sports. She arranged her bridge games around OU football games on Saturdays in the fall.
Pat wore many hats during her life. Scout Den Mom, Girl Scout Cookie Chairman, cheerleader for kids’ sports teams, carpool driver, disciplinarian when required, educator, encourager, extra mom to anyone who needed her (Mother of the Year in Alva, Oklahoma one year), county election board secretary and state election board trainer in Oklahoma. The most revered role she had was as supportive Mother to Marilyn, Bill and Su-Su, she also loved every minute of being Mamaw to her five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Her family takes comfort in the knowledge that she is now at her heavenly home, “…absent from the body and present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8
In lieu of flowers, Pat would have welcomed donation to benefit, The Bridge of Georgia Therapy Center “In memory of Pat Hackett Denton” P.O. Box 542, Monroe, Georgia 30655. Their website is www.bridgeofgeorgia.org
