Lila Hill was born in Monte Vista, Colorado on July 1, 1932 to John and Bonnie Seamster. She grew up and graduated high school in the nearby Sargent Community. She married Kent Kehler in 1950 and they relocated to Meridian in 1952. Three sons were born to this union. In 1968, she remarried to Earl Hill and moved to his Amity Road farm. Lila taught piano lessons and served as a church organist for over 50 years. She was one of the founding members of the Meridian Historical Society and wrote the weekly historical column for the Meridian Times for over 20 years. She was also active in the Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of the Eastern Star, Colonial Dames of the XVII Century, the Idaho Huguenot Society and P.E.O. Chapter BZ of Meridian. She served as the United Methodist Historian for Idaho for almost a quarter century and as the City of Meridian historian for over 30 years. Lila received numerous recognition and awards both locally and on a regional level for her work in the community including Meridian Woman of the Year in 1992 and Meridian Volunteer of the Year Award in 2015. She was also a prolific crafter. Earl and Lila could be seen at many of the local craft shows pedaling their woven rag rugs. She remained busy through her final days; often playing piano at the assisted living center and sewing quilts for the hospital.

Survivors include her three sons; Keith, Boyd and Kurt Kehler (Terri); Earl’s son Marti (Dixie) and daughter Sallijo; Grandchildren Gage Kehler, Alyse Russel, Stacey Walgamont, Kimberly Hill and Christiana Williamson; and numerous great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are pending through Accent Funeral Home, Meridian.

We Entrusted Lila Hill's Care To

Accent Funeral Home

A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
