Roderick Gaskins, Sr.

In Loving Memory
With deeply saddened hearts, we share the unfortunate passing of Roderick Gaskins Sr. known by loved ones and friends as Rod.
Rod was born on October 4, 1963 and was raised in Seaside, California. His devastating passing at the age of 61 was on March 7, 2025 in Salinas, California.
Rod attended Seaside high school graduating class of 1981. It was there he met his love, best friend and wife Susan (Balajadia) Gaskins. Together they have three children, Karisa (Gaskins) Stillinger, Jewle Gaskins, Roderick Gaskins Jr.
Rod worked at the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula for over 30 years, making many friends and chosen family members.
Rod loved spending time with his people. He cherished all of his friendships and loved his family tremendously. All that knew him shall never forget his laugh.
Rod was survived by his wife, Susan Gaskins; daughter‘s, Karisa (Gaskins) Stillinger, Jewle Gaskins and son, Rodrick Gaskins Jr.; granddaughter, Sofia Stillinger; father, Samuel E Gaskins Sr.; Siblings, Bertha Gaskins, Chris Gaskins; as well as, an abundant amount of nieces and nephews.
Rod is proceeded in death by his mother, Annie Ruth Brown Gaskins; brother, Samuel E Gaskins Jr. and sister, Gloria Jean Gaskins Collier.
Funeral Service will be held at
Greater Victory Temple
1620 Broadway Ave.
Seaside, CA. 93955

Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
