"Just Like a Rainbow!"

Gerald Wayne "Jerry" Remington, 69, passed away on February 23, 2025, in Olympia, Washington. Born on October 10, 1955, in Bakersfield, California, Jerry lived a life filled with adventure, passion, and deep connections with those he loved.

Jerry had an undeniable love for the outdoors and all things nature. Whether it was camping under the stars, hunting in the wilderness, fishing by the water’s edge, or tending to his garden, he found joy and peace in the natural world. His enthusiasm for crabbing held a special place in his heart, especially when it meant spending cherished one-on-one time with his daughter Cheryl. He also shared a love of sports with his family and could often be found cheering on the Seattle Mariners and Seahawks alongside his father, son, and nephew. Enjoyed supporting his family such as walking beside his daughter Teresa in the McCleary Bear Festival. Music was another great passion of Jerry’s—he loved playing along to his favorite songs on his guitar. Some of his favorite bands were The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, and Creedence Clearwater Revival. His well-known phrases, "Just like a rainbow" and "I hear you knockin', but you can't come in," remain fondly remembered by many who knew him.

Jerry was known for his powerful presence—outgoing, high-energy, boisterous, and dynamic character to those he cared about. He was a father who made lasting memories with his children. Travelling to California or simply playing lawn jarts in the back yard. Even growing a zucchini that was close to a world record for weight that was featured in the local newspaper.

He is survived by his daughter Teresa Nunez (Remington) and her husband Russell Nunez of McCleary, along with their daughters Gracie and Rosie; daughter Cheryl Remington and her partner Robbie Scott of McCleary and their son Roston Scott; son Wayne Remington of Lacey; ex-wife of 38 years Peggy Remington of Lacey; sister Debra Remington of Centralia; as well as a large number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Wallace A. and Wilma J. Remington; brothers Butch and Dana Remington; and sisters Shirley Legate and Yvonne Remington.

Honoring Jerry’s wishes, no formal service or funeral will be held. Instead, his children will celebrate his life by embracing the spirit of adventure that defined him.

To honor Jerry’s memory, consider donating to any local charity in his name.

Rest in peace Dad and run like the wind!

May Jerry’s memory live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
