Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Persechino
September 8th, 1938 - March 27th, 2025
Elizabeth (Betty) Ann McGee-Persechino, died on March 27th, 2025 at age 86 with a joyful spirit and love for God. Betty was born on September 8, 1938 in Worcester, MA. After graduating high school, Betty entered the Sisters of Mercy in the Worcester Diocese, and was known as Sister Mary Richard for 13 years. During her religious life, Betty served in every parish within the Worcester Diocese; however, her last station was at Nazareth Home for Boys, where she loved, guided, and devoted herself to the boys within her care. After leaving Sisters of Mercy, Betty returned to secular life as Betty McGee. Betty held various jobs; however, her last job was with the Worcester Police Department where she was an Investigator. Betty married in 1975 in Worcester, and moved in1978, to Cocoa Beach, FL, where she lived until her death.
Betty actively participated in the Church of Our Saviour’s bible study, led singing at morning mass for many years, was a Eucharistic Minister to the sick (hospital and home-bound), and she volunteered weekly for the Perpetual Adoration Chapel for many years.
Betty is predeceased by her beloved husband, Oresto (Ernie) Persechino; stepdaughter, Mary Fortune; mother, Mary E. Roughan-McGee; father, Charles T. McGee; sister, Mary (Pat) McGee-Girouard; and brother, Charles McGee. Betty is survived by her sister, Maureen (Mo) Milder-McGee, nephews Sam and Max Milder; stepson, Ernie Persechino Jr. and his wife Christine; stepdaughter, Nancy Persechino and her husband Scott Sinclair. Betty is survived by many relatives; however, special mention is given to her cousin Mary Toomey; her niece Betty Ann Kaczmarek, and her close friend whom she met at church after her husband’s death, Sarah Travelute.
Those that knew Betty, will miss her beautiful smile, kind words, humble attitude, optimistic/positive outlook, caring demeanor, thoughtful prayers, and helpful advice. Betty loved reading, worshiping and praising God through prayer and song, and watching movies and sports. Heaven is sweeter with one more angle. Betty will be greatly missed by her family, friends, community, and church.
