Joseph J. Martino Jr., of Little Ferry, NJ, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on 3/27. He was a devoted husband to Susan Martino, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.

Joe was a talented kitchen designer and remodeler. He had a keen eye for craftsmanship and an unwavering dedication to his trade. His love for carpentry extended beyond his work—he found joy in watching YouTube videos about woodworking and learning new techniques, even after years of mastering his craft.

He passed this passion down to his late son, Joseph J. Martino III, who followed in his footsteps and became a master carpenter himself.

Joseph was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. Though he was a man of simple pleasures, he had a mischievous sense of humor. 

As a young man, he once had a car with no engine, but that didn’t stop him from having fun with it. He and his friends would park in the circle in Little Ferry, pretending the car had broken down. Whenever a kind stranger stopped to help, Joe would convince them to push his car with theirs—taking a ride all around town in a car with no engine.

 He was preceded in death by his beloved sons, Joseph J. Martino III and Paul Martino.

 He will be deeply missed by those who knew him, but his craftsmanship and lessons will live on in the homes he helped create and the family he nurtured.

Cremation and a private service to honor Joseph’s life was held at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home. Another celebration of his life may be held in the summer of 2025 for his friends and family who are in New York and New Jersey.
