Charlina "Charlie" Cofer
February 12th, 1951 - March 29th, 2025
Charlie Cofer passed of pancreatic cancer on March 29, 2025, at 2:30 AM. Her battle started in mid-August of last year and ended in Room 3 of the Pathways Hospice facility in Fort Collins, CO.
She was born on February 12, 1951, in San Bernadino, CA. She was always proud of being born on Lincoln’s birthday. She traveled many miles to see Lincoln's birthplace, his final resting place, and as many places in between as she could find.
She moved to Fort Collins in 1999 to pursue a love once lost. She and Bill were married in Las Vegas on Saturday, October 27, 2001. They truly lived a wonderful life.
Her family owes a tremendous amount of gratitude to Cate, Sarah, Susan, Matt, Toni, Val, and the entire staff at Pathways for the tender and compassionate care she received. The MD Anderson Clinic in Loveland also deserve a tremendous amount of credit for their guidance with chemo and palliative care. Dr Shelanski and the entire staff did an excellent from October to January guiding us along a very scary path! Well done!!!
She is survived by her son Patrick (Katherine) and her three grandchildren, Brean, Michelle, and Thomas; her younger son, Randall (Melinda), and her two grandchildren, Dan and Alissa and her first great grandchild Michael; two daughters, Stacie (Keith) and Alison. What a tremendous asset they, and her sister Sheila, have been.
She is survived by three sisters: Becky, Sheila and Mary (Jim), many nephews, nieces, and an amazing group of friends…including her extended family of friends in Tucson…her “happy place.”
She is also survived by her loving husband, Bill. Their marriage built a strong foundation for our entire family. Watching how they loved and supported each other through their life together taught us all how it was done. Each of us had a unique relationship with our sweet Charlie and benefited greatly from being loved by her.
Bill’s sweetheart was a kind soul, patient and forgiving, a survivor, a devoted family member, and, most of all, an angel who earned her wings long ago. To know her was to love her!
Her parents, Charles and Joyce Partain, and two brothers-in-law predeceased her.
Her celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family would be pleased if yellow rose bushes were planted to honor her and everything she has contributed to our lives. Or, if you prefer, consider a contribution to your favorite charity or to Pathways Hospice in Fort Collins (pathways-hospice.org). She said she would be proud and honored to be remembered by any choice her friends and family might make.
