Gregory "Greg" Karl Zoeller
October 10th, 1956 - February 24th, 2025
Greg was born and raised in Marin County California with his two sisters Viki and Mary. He lived in various locations throughout the northern California area Santa Cruz, Windsor, Santa Rosa, San Jose, Citrus Heights, South Lake Tahoe. He attended San Jose State University, as well as Sonoma State University. Where he would meet Patricia Zoeller they would have one son Zachary. Greg spent over 20years in the Reno Tahoe region earning a Master’s degree in business from the University of Nevada Reno.
He would go on to work in the mortgage banking industry throughout Reno, Lake Tahoe and the greater area for 10-15 years, he would later to move Plano TX, to work for Country Wide home loans, before returning to California to manage a branch for Beazer Homes in the greater Sacramento area. Building and developing was Greg’s true passion aside from sailing. He would go on to design and build several homes both personal and rentals mostly in the Reno Tahoe region as well as New Mexico and Phuket Thailand.
In 2009 Greg decided to step out of the mortgage industry, and stepped into the trucking industry. Starting his own trucking business this would lead him to the east coast New Jersey specifically, he spent several years on the East coast before ultimately closing down the company and moving back to California. Greg would remain in the Trucking industry hauling various dairy products from California to New Mexico.
While doing this he stumbled across the oil fields of southern New Mexico and North West Texas. He ended up moving to Lake Sumner a small community just outside of Fort Sumner New Mexico (Home of Billy the Kid’s Grave). Greg would spend the next 14 years working in the crude oil trucking industry living in the southern New Mexico area. He would eventually move to Portales New Mexico (Home of Eastern New Mexico University). He would go on to build some rental properties in the Portales area near the university just as he had done in Reno. Portales is where Greg’s final resting place.
