Percy Graham Anderson, Jr
June 22nd, 1928 - March 20th, 2025
Percy Graham Anderson, Jr., age 96, of Loveland, Colorado, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025. Born on June 22, 1928, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Percy was one of 5 siblings born to Percy Graham, Sr. and Annette Avery Anderson. He lived a full and impactful life, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to his family, profession, and his community.
In June of 1955, Percy married Betty Jo Sanderson in Blackwell, Texas. Percy cherished the family they built together for 26 years until Betty’s passing in October of 1981. Percy married Doris Butler in Casper, Wyoming in September of 1982. They enjoyed 37 years of marriage until her passing in 2019. They were able to enjoy many activities together such as traveling to Hawaii, New Zealand, Mexico, and China.
In 1950, Percy graduated from Texas A&M with a mechanical engineering degree. He became a petroleum engineer with Lion Oil (later bought by Monsanto) and Moncrief Oil. Before retiring in Casper, Wyoming, Percy and his family lived in Snyder, Texas; Midland, Texas; Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Houston, Texas; and a final move to Casper, Wyoming.
Percy pursued a career in petroleum engineering, a field he approached with passion and expertise. He retired after a distinguished career, during which he made significant contributions to oil and gas discoveries, such as lead engineer, supervising, at that time, drilling the deepest well in the Rocky Mountains. He also served as President of the Casper Petroleum Club from 1982 to 1983, demonstrating his leadership and respect within the industry.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Percy was deeply committed to serving others. He was a member of the Highland Park Community Church in Casper, Wyoming and a dedicated member of the Rotary Club, embodying their motto of "Service Above Self." For an extraordinary 30 years, he volunteered as a Meals on Wheels driver, bringing not only sustenance but also companionship to countless individuals in his community. His commitment to this service reflected his compassionate and generous spirit. He also enjoyed traveling and participating in just about every sporting activity, such as hiking, biking, fishing, boating, snowmobiling, and water and snow skiing. However, his passion for golf surpassed all other sports in which he participated.
Percy was a man of quiet strength and unwavering support. He cherished his family and friends, and his presence will be deeply missed. Percy is survived by his 3 children, 4 step-children, 27 grandchildren, and 35 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both of his wives and 4 siblings.
A graveside service to celebrate Percy's life will be held at the Blackwell, Texas Cemetery on April 6, 2025 at 1:00pm, with a reception following at the Blackwell First Methodist Church’s fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to your local Meals on Wheels, Rotary Club Foundation, or Hospice.
