On the 28th day of March 2025, Wallace Tildon Akers went to spend the rest of eternity with his Lord and Savior.  He is survived by sons (Timothy Allen Akers), (Jerrold Wayne Akers (wife Nancy)), (Thomas Perry Akers (wife Laura)), and daughter (Sheryl Ann Sell (husband Frank). Wally had 10 grandchildren (Levi, Leah, and Luke (Sheryl), (Jeremiah, Rebecca, and Johnathon (Tom), and (Elisabeth, Joseph, Stephen, and Nathan (Jerrold/Jerry).  Additionally, 16 great-grandchildren (with an additional great grandson on the way), (Brynlee, Emma, and Noah (Joseph/Joe)), (Ezra (Johnathon), (Anna and Elias (Jeremiah), (Archer and Eleanor (Elisabeth), (Kinsley, SkyeLynn, Tegan, and Hallie (Luke), (Zara and the one on the way (Levi), (Abraham and Coraline (Leah) and Malakai (Nathan).  Unfortunately, he was preceded in death by his wife of just over 69 years (Priscilla), granddaughter Rebecca, his parents (Delbert and Ida Akers), siblings Delbert Jr., Evelyn, Charles, and Barbara and three heavenly babies.  He is survived by sisters Betty and Linda.

Wally was born on January 15th, 1933 in Ceredo/Kenova, West Virginia.  Wally was the second of 7 children.  His maternal grandmother was a full blood Cherokee Indian. He had an uncle who was a positive, spiritual influence on him that was a circuit riding preacher in the remote mountains of West Virginia.  He met Priscilla while she was on a visit to West Virginia with her family.  They were married on the 2nd of May, 1953.  During the earlier years of their marriage, they lived in Michigan and in the Chicago, IL area where their four children were born. In 1964 they moved to Loveland, Colorado.  In 1966 and the age of 33 he came to know Christ and a few years later (1970) went on to bible college.  In 1975 he began serving as a missionary to Alberta, Canada.  Due to health issues they returned to Loveland, Colorado.

While attending 7th grade he started working as a caddie at the local golf course to help support his family.  His last year of formal schooling was the 8th grade.  He also had other jobs such as a gas station attendant and a skating rink technician.  He enlisted in the Navy at the age of 18 in 1951 and served on the USS Randolf carrier in the Mediterranean during the Korean war as a machinist's mate. Various jobs he performed during that time were running the captain’s launch, maintaining the diesel engines, and serving shore patrol duty.

After leaving the Navy in 1954 he went to work for Fisher Body, a division of General Motors and served his apprenticeship as a tool and die maker.  The family moved to Loveland, Colorado in 1966.  He had various jobs in Colorado such as at the Great Western sugar plant and in a oil field location.  He started working for Hewlett-Packard afterwards as a machinist. He started he own business on the side in the basement of his house building transformers for electric arc welders.

In 1970 he moved the family to Denver in order to attend Baptist Bible College of Denver cramming 4 years of training in 5.  He attended college fulltime while also working fulltime at Sundstrand Aviation as a tool and die maker.  Upon graduation in 1975 he was ordained and started deputation to go to the mission field in Canada under BIMI (Baptist International Missions Incorporated). Once on the mission field he started a church in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.  After about two years on the field, he had to return to Loveland, CO due to health issues and was never able to go back.  He pastored a church in Louisville, CO for nine years.  During that time, he started working at Colorado State University (CSU) in the physics machine shop helping students and professors create the parts needed for their projects.  He retired from CSU and spent the rest of his life here in the Loveland, CO area.

Wally loved horses and wanted to be a cowboy as a young child.  As a young married couple, he and Priscilla loved roller skating and spent much time in doing so.  Wally also enjoyed swimming in the waters of Cuba while serving in the Navy. Additionally, he loved camping, fishing, and hunting, especially with friends and family.

His presence will be missed by not only his family but also by his many friends and acquaintances. However much we will miss him we know that he is now enjoying being in the presence of his Lord and Savior as well as with those that had preceded him to his heavenly home.
