In Loving Memory

Erika was born in Salinas, California on April 6, 1967. She was the fourth child of William and Judith Holmquist. Her older sisters are Jennifer, Kirsten and Ingrid. Her younger brother and sister are Edward and Johanna. In addition to the 6 children, there were always dogs and at one point, the following pets: ducks, rabbits, an iguana, a cat and a boa constrictor. There were also foster children and Japanese exchange students. She lived in a loving and bustling household. The family attended church regularly at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Salinas, Ca. Erika completed her education in a special day class through the Monterey County Office of Education. During that time and into adulthood, she participated in the Special Olympics. In her 20’s Erika moved from the family home to a group home / care facility. Erika enjoyed working and was proud of having a job, while doing so. Erika had been in her current care facility with Ogie Cauntay for the past 21 years. During that time, she had the opportunity to work and participate in many fun activities and trips, such as, going to the movies, going out to eat, summer camp, traveling to Disneyland and Mexico. She also attended church on Sundays and participated in other church activities, such as the Valentine’s Dances. Erika loved music and singing. She liked socializing, family get togethers and community outings. One of her favorite places to go was the Olive Garden. She loved the Fettuccine Alfredo! Erika will forever be in our hearts!

Healey Mortuary

At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
