Alfred, fondly known as Fred, was born July 10, 1937, in Washington, D.C.  He passed comfortably and peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family listening to music at HCA Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, Florida March 24th, 2025.

Fred is preceded in death by his loving parents, Emmy and Alfred Kopf and his beloved wife Margo. He is survived by his daughter, Paula Adams, son, Kenneth Summers and stepdaughter, Kelly Gildart, his grandchildren Cody Adams, Nikki Carlson & Hunter Gildart as well as his great grandchildren, Hunter and Landon Carlson and his cousin’s Christa Kopf and Christa Slavin.

Fred was an only child, first generation of German immigrants.  He spent most of his life in the Northen Virginia area attending Washing Lee High School in Arlington, Va and graduating from George Washington University in 1959 with a business management degree. Alumina of the Sigma Nu Fraternity.

Most of his career focused on property management for both large & multi property holdings for commercial and residential properties, becoming a Certified Community Manager.  Looking to become a business owner, he found an attractive opportunity to purchase a Maid Brigade franchise leaving the property management realm behind and pursuing this endeavor with his wife, Margo.  They grew this business exponentially, earning many accolades.

In October 2004 after Hurricane Charlie, Fred and Margo moved to Port Charlotte, FL to spend their retirement years.

His warm smile and contagious laughter would always light up the room and hearts of others.  Sharing his joviality with others through jokes and emailing them to all on his contact list. Another reflection of his fun-loving nature was the joy he got from music, dressing up for themed parties and his favorite black-tie affairs so he could don his tuxedo coordinating the accessories to fit the occasion.

He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, a steaming mug of black coffee, food, the great outdoors and the company of family and friends.  Fred had a passion for computers and electronics.  How they worked from the components to software.  He was a long-standing member of the Charlotte County Computer group.

Fred was a big fan of movies, clocks, planes, trains and listening to the ministry of Joel Osteen. A favorite pastime was tinkering with household items to repair it, taking them apart but not so great at it, ha ha.

He loved dogs of all sizes and breeds, training & raising them in his early days and supporting his furry friends through the animal welfare league and getting his pet fix from friends, neighbors & family members pets.

A diabetic since early childhood, Fred received certification to teach diabetic nutrition awareness and support groups heading up with classes with Margo to share his experiences and knowledge to help others earning many recognition awards for his generous support and commitment to improving the lives of those living with this disease from the American Diabetes Association.

This beautiful soul will be sorely missed.
