In Loving Memory
Mary Ann Rentz, 89, of the Presbyterian Community in Lexington, South Carolina passed away March 31, 2025. She was the widow of George Irby Rentz, Jr. They were married for 30 years. Mary Ann was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to his family. She was born on July 1, 1935 in Timmonsville, South Carolina to the late Cecil W. Ward, Sr. and the late Mary Clare Summers Ward.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughters, Marty Rentz Johnson and Mary Winifred Rentz; daughter-in-law, Iris Bowlin Rentz; nephews and niece: Dennis Ward, Matt Ward (Laurie), Travis Ward (Kathy), Marlene Ward, Johnny Ward, David Ward; grandchildren: Stephenie Ingle Johnson, Margaret McCabe Rentz, Sara Rentz Krisnow (Seth) and George Michael Rentz, Jr.; and great grandchildren: Olivia Krisnow, Irby Krisnow, Audra Krisnow; her brother-in-law, Dr. Simms Hunter Rentz (Nancy); and several great nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Henry B. (Sonny) Robinson, Jr.; her son, George Michael Rentz, Sr.; her son-in-law, Thomas H. Johnson; her brothers and sister-in-laws, Cecil and Opal Ward and John and Betty Ward; and nephew, Woody Ward.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30am at Woodridge Memorial Park on Monday, April 7, 2025. A memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Home Chapel (700 DaVega Drive, Lexington) at 1:30pm on Monday, April 7, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saluda River Baptist Church, 3459 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia, SC 29169. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family.
