Beers and Story - Palmer
Lawrence "Larry" J. Ochs, Sr.
February 25th, 1942 - April 2nd, 2025
Lawrence (Larry) Ochs, age 83, of Three Rivers, MA, passed away on April 2, 2025, with his loving family by his side. He was born on February 25, 1942, to William and Irene (Barter) Ochs, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era.
Larry began his professional journey working for Guaranty Loan, but his true passions led him to pursue a career in sales. He transitioned to freelancing as a painter before opening a woodstove and chimney business. However, it was his work at Zep Inc. that he truly loved. Larry dedicated 20 years to the company, retiring in 2015. After his retirement, he continued to share his expertise as a sales representative for Algonquin.
In addition to his professional achievements, Larry was a man of many passions. He was a devoted practitioner of Transcendental Meditation and enjoyed the peace it brought him. A lover of nature, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as time spent on Cape Cod. He cherished swimming in the Nantucket Sound and relished every opportunity to visit the beach.
Larry was the beloved husband of 63 years to Carol (Pelletier) Ochs of Three Rivers. He was a loving father to Larry Ochs Jr. and the late Shawshee of Ludlow, Angela Rice and David of Thorndike, and John Ochs and Chrissy of Thorndike. He was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. Larry is also survived by three siblings: Kathy Pare, Cynthia Johnson, and Suzanne Plescia.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Irene (Barter) Ochs, and his siblings: Danny, Billy, Stephen, and Virginia Ochs.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Veterans Home in Holyoke, 110 Cherry St., Holyoke, MA 01040. All services are private and Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
