Ann Parker (Catherine Ann Starrs), 93, of The Cypress of Hilton Head, died peacefully April 3, 2025, after a short illness. Charles Parker, her husband of 71 years, and children, were at her bedside.

 

Ann was born February 19,1932, in Savannah, GA, to Catherine and William Starrs, Sr. and raised in Jacksonville Beach, FL. She earned her degree in education from St. Genevieve of-the-Pines College and married Charles Parker on August 1, 1953, at Jacksonville Beach. They traveled extensively throughout her husband’s career in the U.S. Air Force and retired to Hilton Head in 1994 from Atlanta, GA. Ann was a homemaker, and later co-owned Country Fair, an antiques shop. She was an avid golfer and was known as a kind and wonderful soul with a gregarious, infectious personality that never met a stranger. 

 

An active member of St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church, she was a Eucharistic Minister, involved in the outreach program, RCIA, the St. Vincent DePaul Society, and a prayer group.

 

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include five children, Patricia Nielsen (Roger), Catherine Parker, Mary Parker, and Elizabeth Parker (Rhett), John Parker (Yuko); seven grandchildren, Matthew Nielsen (Sara), Sarah Hoopingarner (Eric), Zachary Lamm, Emily Kahn (Daniel), Jeremiah Lamm (Bethany), Miu Parker, and Suzu Parker; two great-grandchildren, Addison Lamm and Ezra Kahn; two sisters, Mary Lewis and Susan Thompson; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by brothers, William Starrs, Jr. and Michael Starrs, brother-in-law Bruce Thompson, sister-in-law Angela Starrs, and cousin, James Moore.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025, at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church Outreach Program and the Pregnancy Center and Clinic of the Low Country.
