July 9, 1933 – March 29, 2025
Captain James McKelvie Lee Jr. was born on July 9, 1933, in Manhattan, New York, to the late James McKelvie Lee Sr. and Wilhemina Gaskins Lee. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 29, 2025. Leaving behind a legacy of strength, dedication, and love, Jim was preceded in death by his beloved parents and his dear sister, Wilhemina “Bunny”.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Pat, and his cherished children: Mark (Nyamhka), Joe (Claire), Chanel (Jason), Nando, and Alfonso. He was a proud grandfather to Makena, Naren, Karen Moultrie, Jasmyn, Josselyn, Josiah, Christopher, Michael, Jeremiah, Peter (Brandy), Ignacio, and Johnny; and great-grandfather to Adam and CJ. He is also survived by a loving niece Karolyn (Kelvin).
Jim’s memory will also be held close by his extended family, including cousins Alfred “Ricky” and Steve Anderson, along with a host of coworkers, associates, friends, neighbors, and his cherished St. Matthews Episcopal Church family in Los Lunas, NM.
Known for his integrity, warmth, and unwavering faith, Captain Lee touched the lives of many and was deeply loved by all who knew him. Jim’s legacy of service, compassion, and community will live on through those he inspired. He will be missed dearly but never forgotten.
