Frank Jandik Jr, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and decorated United States Marine Sergeant passed away at home on March 29, 2025. Born in Czechoslovakia on October 20, 1946, he is predeceased by his parents, Frantisek Jandik Sr and Miloslava Jandik. Frank is lovingly remembered and survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Linda (McGregor) Jandik, of 57 years; his three daughters: Jennifer (Kacy) Clark, Kelly (Steve) Blake, Allyson (Nate) Walls; and his grandchildren: Adam, Abby, Mila, Brinlee, and Cali and a sister: Milo Jandik Usina (Carmine Joseph Pardo).

Frank left Czechoslovakia with his parents and sister at the age of three. They lived in Venezuela for nine years before making Miami home in 1959. Frank could speak Czech, Spanish, and English fluently and became a US Citizen at the age of 18. Since childhood he always knew he wanted to serve his country. He enlisted in the USMC in 1965 and served for four years while earning the rank of Sergeant of the 1st BN 5th Marines 1st Marine Division in the Vietnam War. He earned a Silver Star, 3 Purple Hearts, and many other military honors. But his greatest honor was always his family and highest rank was being Pop Pop to his grandchildren. After leaving the service, he became a supervisor for FPL for 30 years before retiring.

In 1975, he and Linda moved from Miami and made their forever home in Bradenton, where they enjoyed raising their three daughters together. They spent weekends and summers having fun in their pool, hosting backyard parties with friends, road tripping across the United States in their RV, boating, hunting, fishing, and camping in the state parks of Florida. Like his father, he always enjoyed woodworking and built many pieces of keepsakes and furniture for his family throughout the years. His greatest labor of love was the backyard playhouse he built to surprise his daughters. Upon retirement he found great joy in researching and documenting the family history of both his and Linda’s ancestry. When they weren’t helping with the grandkids, they enjoyed escaping to the mountains together.

At home, Frank was capable of building or repairing just about anything. He spent hours sitting around the firepit listening to his favorite tunes, telling stories, and making jokes with a Captain and Coke in hand. In his retirement years, you could find him tinkering in his workshop, on the back porch watching the birds, or in his recliner immersed in Fox News while exclaiming, “I love you, Mom” to his wife multiple times a day.

Frank will be remembered for his love of country, dedication to his family, and his sense of humor. He will be greatly missed but his spirit will live on in our memories.

Viewing will be held at Griffith Cline Funeral Home 720 Manatee Ave W Bradenton FL on Wednesday, April 9th from 6:00-8:00 pm.

A Military Honors Memorial Ceremony will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL on Thursday, April 10th at 1:30 pm.

There will be a Celebration of Life following the ceremony, beginning at 3:30 (TBA).

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in his honor to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or Hospice Support Foundation.
