Duane Arlen Reineke
December 30th, 1939 - March 31st, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Duane Arlen Reineke. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert “Burt” and Myrna Reineke. Duane was a loving father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was born on December 30, 1939 in Burwell Nebraska, and died on March 31, 2025. Duane was known as a man of kindness who always approached life with careful planning and a strong work ethic.
Duane worked for many years in the construction industry and was proud to be a skilled crane operator and managed several of Oregon’s covered bridge rehabilitation projects. Duane was most proud of his participation in the construction of the Willy Knickerbocker Bicycle Bridge in Eugene.
Duane is survived by his children Bob Reineke (Amy), Stefani Myers (Perry) and Shaun Reineke; His grandchildren Taylor, Nate, Emma, Cooper Reineke, and Mason Myers; His great grandchildren, Carter, Mateo, Cody, Kimo and Chloe Reineke. His love also extends to his siblings Darlene Hibbert, Darwin Reineke, Sharon Lynch, Nadine Voyles and Norlyn Reineke (preceded in death).
Duane was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Denise Reineke, whom he married in 1971. His many years with Denise were filled with their shared enjoyment in feeding the local squirrels, ducks and hummingbirds, along with picking the cherries Duane grew in his backyard. Duane was also an avid fan of the Oregon Ducks and Nebraska Cornhuskers. Duane loved to travel including a recent trip to the Caribbean with his son, Shaun.
A funeral service for Duane will be held on April 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the West Lawn Memorial Funeral Home, 225 S Danebo Ave, Eugene, OR 97402. We invite all who knew Duane to come and pay their last respects, as we say goodbye to this extraordinary man and celebrate the life he led.
