Richard "Rick" Martin Georges
November 17th, 1947 - March 31st, 2025
"So, in the end, I don't fear death. But, I am going to have a hell of a time until it comes." - Richard M. Georges
Richard (“Rick”) M. Georges, a dedicated attorney, advocate for legal technology, and passionate writer, passed away unexpectedly on March 31, 2025, at the age of 77. Rick, a longtime resident of St. Petersburg, Florida, was well-known for his contributions to the legal community and his love of learning.
A graduate of Stetson University College of Law, Rick’s legal career spanned decades. He was a respected solo practitioner, focusing on real property, corporation law, and wills, trusts, and estates. In addition to his law practice, he was a highly regarded speaker, educator, and writer, often presenting seminars on the integration of technology in legal practice. As the author of the widely read Future Lawyer blog, Rick's forward-thinking perspective on the future of law and technology made him a thought leader in the field.
A lifelong learner, Rick's curiosity wasn’t confined to the law. He was also a published author and poet, having written multiple books, such as Stoicism - Philosophy for the Rest of Us, RV Lawyer - the Use of Technology to Practice Law Remotely, and Life is Simple, Really: Poems about Life, Loving, Family and Fun. His poetry reflected the depth of his character—reflective, thoughtful, and always mindful of the things that truly matter in life.
Rick was born on November 17, 1947, in Jacksonville, FL. He was an Eagle Scout and held a deep sense of duty to those around him. He often joked that he knew he wanted to practice law in 1969 when he applied to law school to avoid being drafted into the Vietnam War. He believed in being well-prepared for every challenge and approached life and the practice of law with that mindset.
Rick was also known for his humor, humility, and wisdom, often quoting the Stoic philosophers who inspired him.
Rick is survived by his wife, Diane Georges; children, Nicole Lovett (Jarrod), Aron Bryce, Ariana Cosentino, Christopher Twar (Amber), and Brian Twar (Stephanie); grandchildren, Miles, Nathan, Dylan, and Sydney; siblings, Ron Rice, Gene Rice (Barbara), Barbara Jean Britson (Robert), Martin Georges, Jr. (Jenny); numerous nieces and nephews; and his pets, four parrots, Pinot, Lemon, Pepper, and Rio and two dogs, Molly and Bella. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Georges, Josephine Rice and William Rice; his sister Sandra Ayash (George); and his wife, Jacquelyn Cosentino-Georges. Rick leaves behind a legacy of inspiration, intellect, and devotion.
A celebration of Rick's life will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 9:30AM at Our Lady's Chapel at St. Jude's Cathedral, which is adjacent to the Parish Center. The address is 5815 5th Ave. N., St. Petersburg, FL 33710.
Rick’s memory will live on through the many lives he touched—whether through his writings, his teachings, or his loving presence. He will be missed but never forgotten.
