Jody Bernice Counts

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jody Bernice Counts, aged 63, on April 2, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona. Born in Richmond, Virginia, to Kermit and Iris Baker, Jody grew up in a proud Navy family. Though her early years were marked by frequent moves, her childhood eventually settled in Golden, Colorado, where she excelled in school and emerged as a star softball player—a testament to her love of sports and her vibrant, competitive spirit.

Jody’s life was a tapestry of adventure and humor. Known for her daredevil nature and witty sense of humor, she navigated life with fearless passion. After exploring various jobs, she moved to Grand Junction, where fate led her to Rich Counts at a technical institute. Together, they built a life full of love and cherished memories.

A devoted wife and mother, Jody and Rich raised three wonderful children: Lance, Seth, and Rachel. Her family was her pride and joy—whether camping under the stars, fishing by serene waters, or cheering at her children’s sporting events, Jody embraced every moment with warmth and dedication.

Jody was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Rachel. Her legacy lives on through her loving husband, Rich; her sons, Lance and Seth; and her seven grandchildren, who will forever remember her as a source of endless love, laughter, and support. Jody’s commitment to her family and friends enriched all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She will be deeply missed, and her spirit will continue to inspire and bring joy to those she left behind. May her memory be a blessing to all.
