Jean Cranshaw
February 18th, 1938 - April 4th, 2025
In Loving Memory
Born on February 18, 1938, in Maugansville, MD, she was the daughter of the late Harold Christian Grove and Josephine Oberholzer Grove. After moving several times in her childhood Mrs. Cranshaw graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in 1957. It was in 1960 she met and married her husband Steve, with whom she had 45 loving years.
Mrs. Cranshaw worked for independent insurance adjusters from 1960 to 2006 and took pride in her work. She also enjoyed working puzzles and spending time with friends and family. She was affectionately known as Mama Jean to many.
A devoted attendee of Springdale Baptist Church, she continued to watch services online when she could no longer physically attend. She loved the ladies in the Women of Faith Sunday School group and continued to enjoy their friendships even after she could no longer go to class.
She is survived by daughters, Duanette C. Grigg (Jim Long) and Mary Jo Price (John M. Price, Jr.); grandchildren Isabella Price and John M. Price, III (known as Jack to friends and family); daughter by heart Andrea Shaw; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Josephine; her husband, Steve; sisters Joanne Spidel and Joyce Diggs; her brother, Don Grove; two nephews and a niece; and her beloved Holly to whom she was Maw Maw Jean.
Visitation will be held at 4:00PM on Saturday, April 19th followed immediately by the memorial service at 5:00PM at Springdale Baptist Church, 357 Wattling Rd, West Columbia, SC 29170.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jean to Springdale Baptist Church Building Fund.
