Betty Louise Tarke

Betty Louise Tarke, 93, of Meridian, CA, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 31, 2025. 

She was born November 8, 1931, to Herman and Madge Tucker in Colusa, CA, during the Great Depression.

She was a Colusa girl who graduated from Colusa Elementary School, Colusa High School, and Yuba College. After graduation, she spent two years in Washington D.C., working as a secretary where she became an expert typist.

She was raised during WWII, with her brother, Robert Tucker, and sisters, Margie Thoma, and Nancy Vierra.

She was married to Louis F. Tarke on December 8, 1956, and they shared 53 years of marriage.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents. Herman and Madge Tucker; husband, Louis; and daughters, Kristin Emery and Cheryl Peacock.

She is survived by her son, Frederick Tarke; his children, Grant, Mitchell, and Paige Tarke; grandson, Kyle Emery, and Garrett and Riley Peacock; and great grandson, Levi Peacock. 

She was an active Girl Scout, Rainbow Girl, and also a 50 year member of Fidelia Chapter #56 Order of Eastern Star. 

She belonged to two different bridge clubs, Alpha Sigma sorority, and Franklin Dance Club with her husband, Louis. She was also a 60 year member of PEO.

She belonged to Meridian and Marysville Methodist churches and Meridian Farm Women. Betty was very involved with her children's education as past president of Meridian Mother's Club, and a sewing advisor to WMS, Windship Meridian and Sutter 4-H club.

After her children entered college, Betty became a business woman by forming a partnership, and later sole ownership of the Diet Centers in Colusa, CA, and Yuba City, CA, for 20 years until she retired. 

Betty loved gardening and interior decorating and devoted her whole married life to developing her beautiful yard and decorating her lovely home which she loved to graciously entertain in.

The public viewing will be held on Sunday, April 13,2025 from 12 PM to 4 PM at Ullrey Memorial Chapel.

The funeral service will be held at Ullrey Memorial Chapel in Yuba City, CA, on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 11 AM. Graveside Service immediately following at Sutter Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
