Katie Sistar, of St. Petersburg, FL was born on Jan. 14, 1941 in Greenwood, MS to Thelma Parker and James Earle Donaldson, Jr. She died peacefully in her sleep Sunday, March 30, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband William C. Sistar, Jr. and two of her siblings. She is survived by their 4 children, Carolyn Halstead, her husband, Rob, and their 6 children; Linda Crosswhite, her husband Joe, and their 4 children; Dorothy Rittenberry and her son; Will Sistar III, his wife, and their 3 children; her sister, Dorothy Giles, her husband Jamie, and their daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; George Donaldson, his wife Sandra and his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. She graduated from Louisiana State University in Elementary Education. She started off teaching upper elementary but soon discovered that she loved teaching Kindergarten. It was exciting to her to start the children off on the educational journey. She taught at Westgate Elementary for most of her teaching career. Concurrently doing many projects like starting adult literacy groups, serving as spiritual leader for Via de Cristo, volunteering in her community, and enjoying her family. She was energetic and had many hobbies, besides loving to do puzzles she was working on becoming an artist. She will be remembered lovingly by those that knew her as a mother, sister, grandma Katie, educator, friend, and a good and faithful servant of the Lord.
