Robert W. Turner
November 14th, 1933 - April 7th, 2025
In Loving Memory
West Springfield- Robert W. "Bob" Turner, 91, passed away April 7, 2025 with his children by his side. He was born on November 14, 1933 in Springfield, MA, to the late William and Laura (Charron) Turner. Bob dedicated nearly 30 years to the Western Mass. Electric Company, from which he retired, starting his career as a meter reader then becoming a truck mechanic and later a heavy equipment operator. He was lovingly known as "Bubba" by his co-workers who easily became friends. In 1957, Bob married his beloved wife, Jackie, and together they raised their 4 children, Mark who passed in 1978, Stephen, James, and Elizabeth. After 67 years of marriage, Jackie always remained the light of Bob's life and it was on her birthday, April 7th, five months after her passing, that he rejoined her with an eternal embrace.Bob's generosity led to a lasting nickname of "Charitable Bob", and he was always willing to give the shirt off his back. He was a talented musician and for many years throughout his life, Bob played bass in a wedding band, Just Us, during his time off on the weekends. After retiring, he continued sharing this talent while playing bass in various retirement communities. He also found great pleasure in racing sprint cars and won many awards and trophies.Bob is survived by his son, Stephen A. Turner, of Palmer; son, James M. Turner and his wife, Michelle, of Agawam; and his daughter, Elizabeth A. Lunghi, of West Springfield. He also leaves his two grandsons, Mark L. and Brendan R. Turner, and their mother, Lynn Turner.Visitation will be held on April 15, 2025 from 11:30am-1:30pm at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow in Gates of Heaven Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his beloved Jackie.
