Jennie L. Mahoney
January 8th, 1936 - April 5th, 2025
Jennie Louise (Ross) Mahoney, 89, died on April 5, 2025, in Boise, Idaho. This lovely lady was born on January 8th to Lilian (Wheeler) and John Ross. Everyone who encountered Jennie commented on what a sweet and kind person she was. She spent much of her younger years in Southeast Idaho and attended college at Idaho State College graduating with a degree in education in 1958.
During her time at ISC, she met James Michael “Mike” Mahoney. The two were wed on June 3, 1957. The couple spent the first 11 years of their marriage in Pocatello where Jennie worked as a primary school teacher. While in Pocatello, the Mahoney family welcomed two sons: James Edward “Ed” and Kenneth Michael “Ken”. In 1968, Mike and Jennie made the move to Boise where Jennie got a job teaching in the Meridian School District. She was a beloved teacher for 37 years.
Jennie and Mike were very active in the Episcopal church, especially St. Stephen’s in Boise where she learned to play the guitar and took part in the music programs. Mike and Jennie were passionate about several ministries at St. Stephen’s including the Cursillo, the prison ministry, the camp at Paradise Point, and helping those suffering from domestic abuse.
Jennie’s quick smile and laugh could fill a room – and there were many smiles and laughs throughout her life. She and Mike loved going to family reunions as well as camping, boating, golfing, socializing with people and staying in touch with family.
Jennie is preceded in death by her husband, Mike: and son, Ken. She is survived by her son, Ed (Karen); grandchildren: Brandon (TJ) Mahoney , Jessica May (Kyle) Heinz , Joseph Pinkston, Nick Wilson, and Mike (KC) Wilson .
The family would especially like to thank Shaw Mountain of Cascadia where Jennie has been loved and taken care of for the past several years.
Funeral services will be held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Boise, at 7pm on April 16, 2025, under the direction of Accent Funeral Home. Those who attend are asked to wear colorful clothing to reflect Jennie’s love of color. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Woman’s and Children’s Alliance, 720 W. Washington St., Boise, Idaho 83702.

Accent Funeral Home
A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
