Wanda Lois Lacey
November 6th, 1925 - April 9th, 2025
Wanda Lois Lacey, a resident of Frankfort, KY., passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 after a long illness. Born in West Virginia, she was a member of the school choir and sang on radio programs. A war bride and young mother, she waited and worried while her husband, Lawrence Jarrell, served in the US Army. After the war, the couple opened a general store in West Virginia. They moved to Ashland, KY in 1955 where Wanda established a successful cosmetic franchise. In 1972, she married Eugene Lacey and traveled throughout the United States as Eugene was assigned engineering projects for Bechtel Engineering. In recent years, she lived in Frankfort, KY to be near her children.
Wanda is survived by her son, Joe Alan Jarrell, Paris, KY; her daughter, Debra Ison Burklow (Chuck), Frankfort; five grandsons, Philip Sean Wright of Frankfort, Ian Wright of Frankfort, David Diaz of Frankfort, Mark Ison (Lindsay) of Nashville, TN, and David Ison (Brittany) of Shelbyville; three great grandsons, Jacob Ison, Connor Ison, and Spencer Ison, all of Shelbyville; and a great granddaughter, Evelyn Ison, of Nashville, TN.
In addition to her husband, Eugene Lacey, and her parents, George and Minnie Aliff; she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Aliff, and Howard Aliff; her sisters, Arbutus Shufelt, and June Asbury; and her daughters, Deloris Ann Jarrell and Dian Sue Knight.
Celebration of Wanda’s Life will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd with Pastor Jack Brewer officiating, a reception will follow. Visitation will be held from 1:30pm until the time of service on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd.
