From a small agricultural community in southeastern Colorado, to a comfortable, suburban home in Centennial, Dave lived a life full of adventure, friends and family.

David H. Nunnery was born in Lamar, Colorado in 1948 to Alice & Clell Nunnery, and grew up working the family farm near Wiley, along with his parents and surviving sisters, Melody and Kim. He showed his mechanical aptitude and love of cars early, building his first car from local junkyard parts at the age of 12 and driving it home.

Dave graduated from Wiley High School, in a class of 17, and was active in the school marching band, where he discovered a love of the trombone. After high school, he went on to obtain an Associates of Business, Accounting, at Lamar Community College, and then off to Fort Collins, to study at Colorado State University. Dave never completed his Bachelors journey because he met his future wife, Linda, while at school, and, well, life happened.

Dave and Linda were married in June of 1967, the very first couple ever married in the then newly constructed Arapahoe County Court House, in Littleton, Colorado. Two children, Michelle & Christina, followed in short order.

After spending some time working in accounting, Dave decided that a desk job was not for him and he embarked on his career with United Parcel Service. Starting out as a package driver for UPS, Dave worked his way up the chain and eventually landed a position as a Feeder Driver, where he spent the next 30+ years happily ensconced in his semi-tractor, first driving around Colorado and later expanding to the western U.S. Dave was a proud Teamster, and eventually became a Union Steward for the Local #435, where he represented and advocated for the interests of his fellow employees, and developed life-long friendships.

Eventually, his children grew up and married, and grandchildren followed. First was his granddaughter, Shae, and then came his grandson, Bodie. Dave never had more fun than when he was taking his grandkids out on the boat to teach them to water-ski, or to spend time camping with the family.

The man lived for his grandkids and did everything he possibly could to prepare them for life. He recently said that his greatest accomplishments were seeing both of his grandchildren graduate from college.

Dave always enjoyed an adventure and spent years dragging the family from pillar to post, across the United States, camping everywhere that took his fancy, from the Appalachians, to Yellowstone, to the western Utah desert. Lake Powell was a long-time favorite, hosting gatherings of the close UPS/Teamster friends. He was an avid scuba diver, and went on numerous Mexico and Caribbean dive trips and sailboat cruises with his sister Kim and her family.

Dave’s hobbies included spending his time with his beloved dogs, Nigel and Walter, boating, and spending time with friends and family, but everyone knew of his love for restoring cars and antique tractors. Dave never missed an opportunity to talk cars with anyone!

His years of volunteerism were just as varied. He was all about helping others and gave his time to many different organizations and individuals. He started small with neighbors and friends, and graduated to larger groups in the most unlikely way – roller skating. After a few years as a not very competitive speed skater, he found his niche as a volunteer referee. This allowed him to be on the floor and witness every race his daughter, Christina, skated in, and created a whole additional family of others that still love him today. He moved up to the Teamsters and, in his later years, the Elks. Dave could usually be found at the Elks Lodge, with his girlfriend Gloria, cooking for Burger Saturday, or at car shows with his beloved hand-restored 1959 Ford El Camino.

Dave was preceded in death by both his parents, his wife Linda, and his sister Melody. He is survived by both his children and grandchildren.

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at the Littleton Elks Lodge #1650, on Saturday, April 19, 2025.
